FAQ - Property Tax Name Change
Property tax or Corporation tax is amount levied by the local municipal corporation or grampanchayat to the immovable property owners in its jurisdiction (flat, bungalow or plot).
The funds generated from property tax is an important revenue used to develop and maintain public infrastructure and amenities such as roads, trees, sewage, drainage etc.
Property tax bill serves as an address proof for your property. Most government agencies and companies require address proof for completing their formalities; therefore, accuracy of the property tax bill is an important.
Hence the information such as name of owner, address mentioned in the property tax bill should be accurate and up to date.
The names on the property tax bill need to be changed whenever their is a transfer of property.
Most buyers overlook and miss updating the name in the official records such as property tax bill.
Unless the new buyer of the property initiates change in the name in the property tax record all the bills and receipts are generated in the name of the old buyer.
Every Property Buyer must be aware of the fact that updating the official municipal corporation records is equally important as getting the transfer deed (sale deed, gift deed etc.) registered.
Usually after the submission of the documents it takes about 20 to 25 days to get the name changed.
For properties in Pune Municipal Corporation the transfer fee is approximately 30% of the annual rateble value of the property
For properties in Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation the transfer fee is approximately equal to 5% of the annual rateable value of the property
1. Go to PMC website http://propertytax.punecorporation.org/Prop_DuesDetails.aspx
2. Enter your property tax number and click submit
3. At the bottom of the page, click on "click here" to view property tax paid details
4. click on the respective year challan number
5. Your property tax bill details will be displayed
